You've lost me to Peggle

I'm... I'm sorry.

I spent all that time writing about how I'm going to blog better, and now this post is like 2 hours late. I suck so hard.

But now that I sort of have Steam again (see: downloading for 2 hours has not yielded my full copy of Beyond Good & Evil) I've been playing the hell out of my former addiction.

No, not Team Fortress 2. Screw that noise. Everybody knows that the best game of all time is Peggle. With all the colors, and the blinky nights, and the noises, and the characters and powerups, if you have as short an attention span as I do the game is like crack. Dirty, dirty, virtual crack. That I only paid 5 dollars for. So, damn good crack for 5 dollars.

Anyways, once I get all these games downloaded, I should be nice and settled in to flunk out of all of my classes. Should be great.

I did get something done for the blog though. I spent like 20 minutes convincing some friends to go to Oita tomorrow. AND I charged my camera. Yeah. Tell me that's not exciting. So there should be fresh pictures of SOMEPLACE NEW AND EXCITING come tomorrow's blog.

Provided I don't forget to blog and/or fall asleep.

In the meantime, some youtube shows to watch.

The first of the bunch is one I'd been introduced to a while ago and forgot about entirely. Apparently it's got a whole bunch of episodes out now, though. I'm on 13, and I'd say not to spoil anything for me but... it's not like it has a plot.

Anyways, it's the Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show and it's essentially faux Japanese hijinx in a completely bizarre setting. If you're into the kind of humor it's absolutely hysterical, but if you're not then you'll just be terribly confused.

In a different line, but by the same girl, is a show called 2 Hot Girls in the Shower. It's essentially an advice show, with the obligatory intelligent useful commentor and insurmountably retarded commentor. Some of these are a lot more amusing than others, so take them as they come. I recommend Episode 15 because it had me laughing my ass off. So probably a good one to start from, and they're not really in any particular order.

And this last one I feel a bit guilty about linking to, and even worse about laughing my ass all the way to hell by watching it. It's called The Retarded Policeman. The actor is in all actuality a guy with Downs Syndrome. They spend a whole lot of time in the comments section explaining that the guy really enjoys doing the show, there are a lot of different degrees of Downs Syndrome so he's fully aware of what he's doing as he only has it mildly, etcetera etcetera. Anyways, the show pretty much plays him as just a silly jerk moreso than an actualy retard (in my opinion at least) so you could imagine them using any other actor and just calling it "Billy the Dick of a cop" or something just as asonine. For a sample, Episode number 13 is practically a work of art in my opinion.

As always, leave comments in the peanut gallery on what you think. It's been lonely in there lately.

Now I'm off to eat more peanuts (and play Peggle)

Stark Raven Mad

I decided I must learn more about our avian overlords. They may be watching us, but I'm watching them back, just as intently. Okay, probably much less intently, considering birds don't wear glasses. And tend to have better eyesight than humans anyways. But I'm still watching them just the same.

Actually, I looked into obtaining one as a pet, and apparently it's illegal in the US. Some protective law over migratory birds. But there are so many accounts on line of people who own a raven or a crow, or even small murders (murder, Marge. A flock of crows is called a murder.) that I'm positive that there is a way around this. If anyone knows how to do this, lemme know so that I can take this opportunity to live with the enemy.

It's either that or put up with the pet alligator I get instead. Which I've already spent plenty of time researching enough to know how to get one. So pick which you'd rather see me walking around the neighborhood with.

I should really get photoshop.

I picked up an eraser today and one of those triple pens. The eraser is awesome, and is one of those push erasers. But it's triangular, so everytime I use it I feel like I'm watching the temple scene from the Fifth Element. Which is an awesome feeling, cause that movie is fan tastic (emphasis on the tastic).

The problem is I hate using erasers. It's a weird tic. I used to collect them when I was younger, and I still have a box of them in the attack at home somewhere. None of them were ever used once. I feel like I'm ruining something awesome when I do it. I've been known to use pencil erasers to erase the smudge marks off my normal erasers.

But that backfires, because I hate using the pencil erasers too. Gah. Such a circle of minor tics.

Oh, right, that horrible meeting.

Suffice it to say that it was less me getting depeorted and more the exact opposite of that. Essentially my dorm fees for next semester are paid off. Which is awesome. So that's exciting.

Yep.

Edit: Does anyone still watch the Ask a Ninja videos? I keep forgetting he even exists, but I just watched the newest one and he seems to have run out of steam. And it seems like every one has multiple questions instead of just being dedicated to one question with the occasional omnibus. It's pretty unfortunate, cause those used to be hilarious.

Skippin classes way to go

Oh man.

So that project I mentioned? I ended up not finishing til like....5. And it being Friday morning, I was extremely tired and ended up sleeping through both of my classes today.

So, that happened. And it's felt like Saturday all day.

But at least I made tacos. And they came out really freaking well, although the Hot sauce I got wasn't as hot as advertised. Still, delish, and I have some left over for tomorrow so I don't have to spend money on food. That's always good.

I didn't burn myself this time either, so that's always good. Guess I'm getting better at this cooking thing. Maybe I'll open up a restaurant or something. Call it the Drippy Faucet, and we'll cater to sailors and badasses. If people don't leave with more bruises than they came in with they'll get a refund.

Also: My toy collection is growing:

Yeaaaah.

Two Gurren Lagaan, a Shakugan no Shana, Final Fantasy 4, and Marvel collectibles.

These are my favorites:

So awesome. Trying to get the whole set, and then a second whole set to sell. Still have yet to set up an e-bay store, but I shall, and it will bring in the bacon.

I should cook some bacon. I think I'm afraid I might scald out my jugular vein or something though.

Tomorrow is a free day. I think I may study for once. Or just read. But...reading is technically studying, because I'm reading in Japanese. Hurray! A loophole!

Sunday is karaoke. I will remember to charge my camera and take pictures. Much to my chagrin though, I realized the video quality is awful. WEll, scratch that. The videos are fine, the audio is terrible. So if anyone knows of any free software that can help restore audio, a link would be greatly appreciated. In return, I dunno, I'll post a picture of my boobs or something. It's the internet, that's always appreciated.

[looks around]

Man. Tomorrow is room cleaning day. Else I get evicted for being so slovenly.

Sloth is my favorite sin.

Dragon Balls

I'm collecting them.

So far I only have the five star ball, but that just means that I'm one step closer to collecting them all. After I get the other 6 I'll have one of my wishes granted. I'm not sure what it is. I think I'll try to cheat the dragon by writing on a sheet of paper all the things I want and then being all "I want my life to be like the things written on this paper." I dunno if that'll work or not, they never tried to exploit that loophole. He might just screw me over and make the world two dimensional. Or just me. That'd probably hurt.

I didn't do anything today aside from use my supernatural senses to determine that I should probably buy more toilet paper, so let's show some pictures:

This may not look like anything special, but I assure you it is. Okay, well maybe special should be in quotes. It's "special." There, that's better. That's pretty much how I describe Japan anyways. But this is a glass door, in the middle of the mall. FOR NO REASON. I looked around. There aren't any panels to connect to it to block off the area, and the door is locked. It's just a door in the middle of the floor. I've always wanted one, but for the purpose of my amusement, and probably somewhere in my yard or inside my house. Or I'd just build it in the middle of the woods somewhere. But it makes even less sense to be in a professional structure.

Also holy crap I just realized there is a tags list box on the bottom of this window. 40+ blogs in and I just notice this now. I should probably start putting things in there. Maybe I'll make some money off of it or get a book deal or something. Sweet. Anyways, more pictures:

Hurray! It's an import store! Called Deli for some reason. And since I'm in Japan their primary import is....American things! Oh god sweet succulent heaven. They have pringles there, AMERICAN pringles. None of this miso soup boiled squid flavored crap. Thank God for silly western trend stores. They also sell a lot of Disney stuff in there. Apparently America = Disney, cause I've had a good amount of people ask me about Disney World.

This is a pastry I bought today. I ate the left ear first, for anyone who was dying to know. The thing was filled with chocolate pudding/frosting/filling/stuff so it was delicious through and through. Japan is cool that way.

Now, back to my fortress of solitude.

[whoosh]

Day number two at APU

Was basically me sitting around my room. I'm still pretty sore from all the airport stuff so I'm spending today to rest it off.

I did get my first slice of Japanese culture today though (Funny, third day in Japan and its just now hitting me, eh?). There was a flea market this morning where I was told I could purchase goods for cheap for my room. Fair enough, I've been to a flea market before. Lines of crappy goods in various degrees of usability for cheaper prices than new but more cost than they're worth. Right?

Wrong.

I get there and they have a gate set up. There is a crowd of people outside the gate watching everybody set their stuff up for display. The spectators were crawling back and forth around the perimeter, eyeing up their targets for when they were unleashed upon the innocent merchants. When the gate finally opened I swear to god I heard a gunshot and the sound of hooves.

Pretty much something like this.

These people RACED directly for the merchandise and what was a seemingly normal group of people became a sweaty, heaving, mass of yelling, shoving asians and us poor unfortunate whiteys who had no idea what was going on. I was quite literally forced to dry hump a Korean girl who was bent over picking out flatware for her room due to the amount of people that were shoving me from behind. Girl didn't even seem to care, but I felt like I should have slipped her a 500 yen coin or something for her troubles.

Anyhow, in the midst of all that, I managed to escape with a bowl, a mug (that is most likely not microwave safe but it looks neat), and my life. Also this other American guy from the crowd (who basically shared my not in Kansas anymore surprise at the carnage) was waiting for me outside the brawl. Name is Max and we grabbed some lunch and he helped me figure out what the crap I was doing in the area. Told me some stuff about Beppu, how to act around people, that sort of thing. I really need to practice my Japanese apparently, after watching him work.

So I did, and then when I went back to get dinner by myself later everyone spoke in English to me.

Goddamn you fate.

Anyways, food is cheap here when its not from a vending machine. I got a fish and rice and green tea meal for 2.50. Beat that, America. On the other hand I spent 1.50 on a gatorade, and another two dollars on more pop to stock my fridge with (Mountain Dew and this delicious shit called C.C. Lemon).

Going to look into paying off my school stuff either tomorrow or monday, figure out what this crap they sent me in my mailbox was, and hopefully figure out where I stand financially. Then I'll be able to buy a digital camera that's not attached to my computer and share some pictures of cool stuff around here.

Stardate something.something.pancakes

Man I miss pancakes.

That probably doesn't make sense....

Well I wanted to get pancakes before I left for Japan.

And, well, I forgot.

Damn.

Oh well.

I should probably say something about Japan.

Well, flying sucks. That's one thing. I'm going to say this: I'm not one of those people with the "Speak the language or get the double F outta my country" but I will say that if you work in an international airport, then you should fluently speak the two languages that the majority of your flyers do.

I know Japanese enough to ask them questions and have them point to things though, so I managed to get through that way. The guys that they left to meet with me collectively knew less English than my baby cousin though, so that was irritating.

Ah well, hopefully I'm speaking fluent Japanese when I fly again so this won't be a problem. Or at least fluent enough to explain to them when I ask where to pick up my baggage.

To anyone who I said I'd lose weight being in Japan: I lied.

So far I've had a can of C.C. Lemon that only has 40 calories and has vitamin c in it.

But for 25 yen cheaper I can get a 32oz can of Mountain dew. And then use that extra 25 yen to go buy this... this... W roll concoction and eat it.

Oh well. I think I'll join the taekwando and kyudo clubs. I think it's called Kyudo. Japanese archery. Looks badass and there is nobody in it really. 15 people, so it'll be easy to meet friends.

Which you'd think I wouldnt have a problem with, what with the 12 or so people that have come up and just randomly introduced themselves. Too bad I can't remember any of their names (aside from my RA but he's the Avatar as far as I'm concerned).

I had more things to say. I did, I really did. I think I flunked the japanese proficiency test but that doesn't really matter cause apparently I could enroll in the native fluency courses if I want. The proficiency test is just a suggestion of where you should enroll. Woohoo.

I need to find a place that sells digital cameras cause I can't get them on campus. When I do there will be photos of more than just my snacks. Like the campus. Oh god is it pretty. So pretty I wrote it a little song:

On top of some mountains
All covered in trees
I came to Oita
To learn Japanese

The first test was real hard
I think I have failed.
But if I try real hard
In the end I'll prevail

The people are nice here
The soda is cheap
The weather is so hot
I think I could weep.

This song is real crappy
I think you'll admit
But, hey look right at me
See if I give a

Song ends there cause I'm too lazy.

Lemme know how much you hate the blog name. If enough people hate it I'll change it. This is on an alt e-mail account anyways so hurrah.
